The Bambini Soiree - {Long}

FullSizeRender.jpg

One of my business goals this year was to aggressively network. Back in April, Bambini Soirée announced they were producing a summit especially for businesses who catered to children’s events. In a word, I was stoked! I talked myself out of the ARA’s February conference and was in need of some networking and sharing of ideas from people in my industry. I paid half of the reservation fee the same week it was announced and anxiously waited for the first week of August.

I flew into Fort Lauderdale, Florida thinking I would save a few bucks on my flight, not considering I would be spending about $80 on Uber. See what happens when you try to be cheap?!

IMG_6136.JPG

While at the conference I sat in 8 workshops, each giving me insightful advice on moving my business forward.  The conference, themed “Let’s gather and soar!”, was held at the upscale Eden Roc Miami Beach Hotel. I arrived at the hotel and was in awe of the vibrant colors of the registration setup. Check out the images below:

Introductory Message from Johanna Dilone, founder of Bambini Soiree Summit

The MC for the introductory convocation was Manolo Doreste, luxury wedding photographer and good friend of Johanna. He spoke briefly and in a compelling inauguration speech he shared his admiration for Bambini Soiree founder, Johanna. He ended his address with, “Step forward into growth or step backward into safety”.

Johanna offered her ABCs on being an entrepreneur. As she went through the 26 letters of the alphabet infused with her adept entrepreneurship experience. Here are a few words of advice she bestowed upon us to jumpstart the conference:

  • Make sure your work speaks for itself AND it’s loud enough! You have to standout!

  • You have to think of yourself as a business — it’s its own entity.

  • Being different adds value to your brand.

  • Put things in place to automate how clients reach you. — There is value in a phone call.

  • Stress, a problem, a mistake, that’s a phone call — Texting doesn’t convey emotions.

  • Make it a point to connect with your clients after their events.

  • When you see that the market doesn’t want to pay you for what you are offering — Shift it!

  • Commit to quality!

  • Treat your business like a business and it will pay you as a business. Treat it as a hobby . . .

  • Sacrifice - what are you willing to give up to have what you want.

  • The biggest failure you can have in life is making the mistake of never trying at all.

  • Kids need experiences to be better humans. {in reference to closing of Toys’R’Us}

  • We are in the business of wow!

  • CREATE EPIC EXPERIENCES!

Would I attend next year?

I’ve decided not to attend next year. Here are my reasons:

—No measurable ROI for Petite Seats. I’m such an introvert that being at a summit is more about me gain knowledge from the presenters and less about networking. Many of the attendants were Florida based event planners, so making a connection wasn’t high on my list. Most of the presentations I attended relayed business journeys, but no real meat, no tangible business practices I felt were transferable.

—The ambience and decor were out of this world amazing! However, the meals provided sucked. I had to supplement each meal and that blew my budget set for the trip. The meals looked nice but were not filling, or they were just not foods I eat. Too much sugar. Several of the meal stations were created to illustrate what would be appropriate for a children’s event, but honey I wanted adult foods.

—Overall, I felt like I could have invested 25% of what I spent on PodCasts and gained more knowledge. 🤷🏾‍♀️The summit was ripe for photo ops though!

Holiday 2018

It’s December and we are in the thick of the holiday season. Valerie of Konfetti Boutik came up to us to design and style a perfect petite holiday tablescape. Check out the images and descriptions from Valerie:

“It’s December and … Tis’ the season to be jolly fa lala lala lala lala! We created this darling setting for a holiday party. The colors were bright, yet subtle. We used a lace paper as a placemat layered with an aqua blue glitter background on a white farm table. Each setting was adorned with a pink velvety poinsettia. A cluster of ornaments completed the centerpieces, and the hanging stars embellished the petite ghost chairs. The cake and cookies were the perfect complement to the decor. Happy Holidays everyone!”

Pink Unicorn Party—Tablescape

For my baby goddess’ 5th and 7th birthday party I wanted to use the entire fenced-in yard space as their play area. We had a few stations and the pool to keep them entertained.

IMG_5242.JPG

The adult tables used our Crystal Napoleon chairs.

IMG_5237.JPG
IMG_5192.JPG

I used an inexpensive fabric to cover our petite clear Chiavari chair cushions. A faux flower garland was made with flowers from Michael’s craft store.

IMG_5231.JPG

The partyware was sourced from a variety of vendors. The cups came from a party in a box kit found at Home Goods. The iridescent hexagon shaped plates were from a Martha Stewart collection from at Micheal’s. The super cute mini fork, spoon, and white charger plate were from Sophistiplate.

IMG_5221.JPG

I did the florals as a DIY because I definitely blew the budget.

The pink unicorn was the center of our design.

Pink Unicorn Party: The Backdrop

For our girls party I knew we needed a statement design piece that would wow! I settled on a balloon backdrop. Originally I commissioned the wooden base to be a circular shape, but decided against this because it would be less surface area. I settled on a freestanding 6’x6’ square. I knew I was going to use a vinyl poster to cover it, so I did away with painting the unfinished wood.

IMG_4619.JPG

The designer and creater of our backdrop was a master carpenter in Newton, NJ James (Bunkbeds by James).

IMG_4620.JPG

James designed the piece to be portable and store easily, by making it fold in half.

FullSizeRender.jpg

My brother in law used the custom illustration designed by @Javeirie to print a 6x6 vinyl backdrop with grommets to hang on the wooden backdrop base.

All put together the backdrop was a show stopper!

Pink Unicorn Party: The Illustration

For our girls fifth and seventh birthdays I decided to host a pink unicorn party. Before finalizing any decor and design elements I knew I needed a custom illustration from Javere Irie. He designed their mermaid party illustration two years prior.

FullSizeRender.jpg
I send him my inspiration board and the girls latest pictures and he got to work in creating an outstanding custom image.

I send him my inspiration board and the girls latest pictures and he got to work in creating an outstanding custom image.

IMG_4149.JPG

I highjacked these from his IG story as he was working on the piece.

Super talented!

IMG_4602.JPG

I took the illustration and commissioned A List Invitations to design a simple invitation.

Also, stickers...from Zazzle.

When I began brainstorming ideas for this event I knew we had to have Cookie Letter Cakes 🦄I went to IG to search and arrived upon @confectionsbycathleen She made the most delicious cream cheese frosting and dulce de leche cookie cake. It was so beautiful I almost didn’t want to cut it.

All ll the other desserts including the 8” unicorn cake was from Sweet Little Sweets.

Kids Farm Table Design

Our most requested rental this quarter has been our Petite Farm Tables. They are rustic, but quite sophisticated. Our clients go gaga over the tables paired with our cross back chairs.

I’ve been brainstorming another table design to complement our more modern chair designs, any suggestions?

The Tetris inspired configuration of the tables designed by Jerry Rose Design was brilliant and an alternative to the traditional estate table setup.

Charlotte’s 2nd Birthday

Our petite farm tables have been a hit this summer. We worked with Fiona of The Treehouse Events providing our crossback chairs and farm tables for her baby goddess’ second birthday party. The setting in Williamsburg, Brooklyn was styled to perfection with a team of vendors that assisted to create a Charlotte’s Web fête.

I love when clients use this combination of tables and chairs to create subtle sophistication with personalized place mats, water bottle labels, and custom desserts.

Rainbow Party

A client sent over this image from a Styled Shoot produced by Oh Happy Day as inspiration for her sons’ celebration. She requested rainbow colored 🌈 ribbons for our white chiavaris.

After a visit to Walmart’s craft section we got right to work with adhering the ribbon to 30 chairs.

The final product was a rainbow inspired kiddie party complete with a custom kraft paper table cover.
